Should I upgrade my paintball gun or get a new one?
Q. I own a Smart Parts Nerve and have questions about whether to upgrade its features or to wait and just buy a new gun. On my Nerve, there are only stalk parts. I have not upgraded anything. I've only had the gun for about a year and play mostly for fun with my friends. I'm only 13 years old but i want to start playing tournement style if it would be possible. My first option is to upgrade the stalk board to a Virtue Board for about $150, a trigger (havent decided what kind) for about $30, and possibly the ASA, eyes and regulator. Since I paid around $400 for the gun i would end up having over $600 put into it. My second option is to wait a year or two, using the gun the way it is before buying a new gun. The new gun would be something like… [cont.]

A. Personally, I wouldn't upgrade OR buy a new marker. The nerve is a pretty formidable marker in its stock configuration. But out of the two choices that you gave, I would upgrade it. Some retarded AGGlet might bash you for having a dated gun, but honestly the important bits (such as the internals) are the same. The only differences between some of the newer guns are revised detents, milling, etc. Unless you want a backup or a loaner, just upgrade the Nerve.
